Brainstorming: Invent a theme!

I think we can all agree that the unique and often surprising monthly themes, and the outstanding items that come with them, are one of the best things about MyVMK. This thread is not so much game suggestions (that's a different subforum) but a creative exercise. As the title suggests, the point is to come up with fun ideas for monthly themes! But there are a few ground rules:

1. No copying directly from themes that have already been used. (See here for a complete list so far.)
2. Make sure the themes are Disney-friendly and Disney-inspired. Good bases for themes are things like: concepts from the parks, Disney movies, and holidays or seasonal motifs.
3. No theme is complete without a whole bunch of new swag! You can either list items from the old VMK that haven't been released in MyVMK yet or come up with all new ones. Be sure to include at least one of each of the following--and if it's your own invention, describe it!

Furniture
* One seat (chair or couch)
* One table or stackable item
* One flat or room divider
* One carpet or rug
* One lamp or other item you can double-click to make something happen

Clothing
* One shirt/top
* One skirt/pants
* One hat
* One pair of shoes

NOTE: If you decide on a gender-specific item of clothing, please also include a counterpart for the opposite gender! I'm sure we don't have a problem if people want to cross-dress, but we shouldn't make anyone do it who doesn't want to!

Pins
* One magic pin
* One set of at least four normal pins

Guest Room
* One pre-existing (but unreleased) room, or a completely new one

BONUS: A new type of ride track and/or vehicle!

Are we ready? I'll start!

Fairy Garden Month

Furniture
Seat: Orchid Chair (in various colors)--a simple chair that resembles an exotic orchid, with petals growing to make the shape of the back and arms
Table: Toadstool Table--should be self-explanatory
Room Divider: Dew-Spangled Cobweb--similar to the Spider Web Room Divider, but with dewdrops instead of a creepy spider
Carpet/Rug: Pixie Dust Pathway--A variation on the ALR Sand Carpet that has a glittering path marked on it. There would be at least three different ones--a straight version, an angled version, and a T-junction so that you can map out any path you wish.
Lamp: Flower Lamp--An upright floor lamp shaped like a daisy or other flower.

Clothing
Top: Tinker Bell Dress Top (female) Leaf Jacket (male)--both include wings!
Bottom: Tinker Bell Dress Skirt (female) or Leaf Trousers (male)
Hat: Acorn Cap
Shoes: Pixie Puffball Shoes (female) or Curly-Toed Leaf Shoes (male)

Pins
Magic Pin: Fairy Flight--Your sprite hovers and sheds pixie dust for a limited period of time.
Normal Pin Set: Disney Fairies. Each would feature one of the important characters from the Disney Fairies DVD series with a backdrop according to their talent--Tink with a green leaf, Rosetta with a pink flower, Iridessa with a yellow sunburst, Fawn with an orange pawprint, Silvermist with a blue water splash, Vidia with a purple whirlwind, Terrence with a beige sack of pixie dust.

Guest Room
Pixie Hollow: The room resembles a forest clearing, but the "trees" that define its boundaries are actually oversized flowers and shrubs. The entrance/exit is through a giant teapot (Tinker Bell's house) off to one side; it exits into Storybook Land. A signpost in the backdrop reads "Fairies Welcome." The music you hear upon entering is light, whimsical, and Celtic-flavored. When it ends, sound effects consisting of bird noises, bee buzzes, and frog chirps continue.

Bump...I'd still love to see others' inspired ideas! Remember that the rules of this exercise do allow unreleased items as long as you're not just copying an entire theme. So if there's something you're itching to get your hands on, by all means, design a theme around it!

Circus Month
This month can be loosely based off of the movie Dumbo, or just a regular circus

Furniture
  • Casey Jr. Circus Train seats
  • "Ring of Fire" aka Hula Hoop with fire around it, (similar to firewall)
  • Ringmaster's Podium
  • Various colored balloons

  • Circus tent backdrops
  • Lions den backdrops
  • Various animal scenery backdrops
  • Tightrope (you can walk across the tightrope and then fall into the ground, which could be useful for builders)
Clothing
  • Clown outfits, big red noses, oversized shoes, big ridiculous wigs
  • Trapeze artist uniform
  • Ringmaster outfit
  • Dumbo Ears
  • Timothy Mouse hat
  • Strongman Onesie
  • Mime outfit
  • Mime mask
  • Showgirl costume, big headdress, leotard, boa
Pins
  • Dumbo
  • Mrs. Jumbo
  • Timothy Mouse
  • The Crows
  • Pink Elephants
  • Dumbo Logo

Rooms
  • Circus Tent Exterior (Tent in the distance)
  • Circus Tent Interior
  • Carnival Amusement Park (roller coasters, Ferris wheels, merry go rounds in the distance)

I have to confess that this theme is fueled partly by frustration. I've been wanting to set up my own Adventure Thru InnerSpace room/ride, based on perhaps the coolest ride that ever got closed at Disneyland. But I'm having trouble finding items that really suit the theme. So I give you:

InnerSpace Month

This is actually something of a twofer theme. It's a Tomorrowland concept, based in science and technology, but the use of snowflakes as the dominant motif gives it a fantasy/seasonal aspect as well. Frozen fans will love the snowflake and ice crystal designs!

Furniture
Seat: H2O Molecule Stool: A sphere propped up by two smaller spheres--like a Chairball with a little more stability, or a nearly-inverted Mickey head.
Stackable Item: H2O Molecule Lattice: Picture six of the H2O Molecule Stools arranged in a ring. Stack them up endlessly to create the basic molecular framework for an ice crystal.
Room Divider: Crystal Labyrinth Wall: A cluster of big snowflakes in a flat plane.
Flat Set: Snowflake Flats: A series of dark walls dotted with glowing, spinning snowflakes (animated). Snowflakes can be small, medium, or large--line them up in order and imagine that you are shrinking!
Carpet/Rug: Snowflake Rug: Just a big flat snowflake you can put on the floor and walk on.
Lamp: Kinetic Oil Lamp Sculpture. A roughly hourglass-shaped arrangement of wires along which beads of oil constantly drip. In the center is a vertical chain of glowing snowflakes.

Clothing
The clothing options for InnerSpace month are more generally applicable to a science theme:

Top: Scientist Lab Coat Top (comes with rubber gloves)
Bottom: Scientist Lab Coat Bottom (comes with dark pant legs sticking out the bottom)
Hat: Scientist Safety Goggles
Shoes: Scientist Safety Boots

Pins
Magic Pin: Atomic Energy Magic--Your sprite is surrounded by dancing atoms and flashes of light.
Normal Pin Set: Bring back these babies.

Guest Room

Shrink Ray Lab Guest Room: A spacious room with a huge, multicolored diagram of a snowflake filling one wall. Rings of light zap toward the center of the diagram every few seconds. Against the adjacent wall is a colossal microscope angled at a shallow slant, so that you can walk into the lower end of it. This is the entrance/exit; it leads to the Tomorrowland Hub. Right next to the microscope is a row of roughly rectangular boxes propped up on stands, like museum exhibits. If you look closely, you can just make out images of snowflakes and atoms in them.

@Whispered

I'm not really into magic either--or pins at all for that matter--but most players seem to like them so I included them in this exercise. Thanks for participating!

In honor of the recent upgrades to Disneyland's Matterhorn, I propose...

Matterhorn Month

In addition to the new items, this month would involve some special events:
* Double credits from the Yeti--every time you collect, he gives you 50 instead of 25!
* Discounted prices on Everest ride pieces

Furniture
Seat: Bobsled Bench--the same basic principle as the Rocketship Couch, but the outline and colors would suggest a bobsled instead.
Table: Ice Slab Table--like the benches in the Matterhorn public room, but for putting other things on, instead of yourself.
Flats: Alpine Mountain View flats--Much like the Toontown Flats, these would come in two layers. The big rectangular "background" layer would show blue sky and snowy peaks. The "foreground" layer would be green/rocky peaks, one with a Swiss chalet.
Room Divider: Ice wall--The new Matterhorn effects include a clear ice wall through which a distorted view of the Yeti moving around can be seen. This might be a tough item to pull off graphically, since it would have to be transparent enough to show what's behind it while still presenting a warped image. If this proved too difficult, a mostly transparent white wall that slightly washes out colors behind it would get the idea across.
Carpet/Rug: Re-release the Snow Carpets as shop items.
Lamp: Glowing Crystal Cluster--a clump of ice crystals that shift through several colors (animated) when turned on.

Clothing
Top: Mountain Climber's Shirt (with lederhosen suspenders)
Bottom: Mountain Climber's Lederhosen
Hat: Mountain Climber's Hat
Shoes: Climbing Boots (with ice crampons)

Pins
Magic Pin: Turn into Yeti Magic. RAWR!
Normal Pin Set: Matterhorn Icons--the Mountain itself, the Yeti, Swiss flag, Bobsled, Skyway Bucket

Guest Room
Swiss Chalet Guest Room--the interior of a wooden building with lots of carving and bright paint on the posts and rafters. There's a fireplace with a fire burning in it, mountain climbing and ski equipment hanging on the walls, and a window with a view of the Alps. The soundtrack starts with a snippet of polka, followed by the sounds of cold winds outside and occasional yodels. The room exits to Fantasyland in the Sky.

Ride Track
We already have the Everest track; isn't that Matterhornish enough? Maybe...but wouldn't it be cool to have an alternate start and porter that generates a bobsled instead of a rickety roller coaster car?

Reviving this thread after a long fallow period...

Ready for some international action? Let's have:

Three Caballeros Month!
Join Donald Duck and his Latin friends, Jose Carioca the parrot and Panchito the rooster, as they celebrate their diverse cultures! Add some Mexican flair to your Frontierland designs, a dash of Brazil to your jungle concepts, or just use these items for their own sake! (This theme also incorporates elements from Saludos Amigos, since for all intents and purposes it and The Three Caballeros are two parts of a single film concept.)

Furniture
Seats: The Magic Carpet Chair could be re-skinned as a Magic Serape Chair. A variation on the Refreshment Corner Chair could provide a Brazilian Cafe Chair.
Table: Let's have a Brazilian Cafe Table to go with the chairs.
Room Divider: Tropical Foliage Divider; Cactus Wall
Carpet/Rug: Rio de Janeiro Sidewalk Carpet--these famous sidewalks were prominently featured in Saludos Amigos.
Lamp: Pinata lamp
Other: Aracuan Pet Pad, Donald Cactus

Clothing
Tops: Jose Caricoa Jacket (tan with buttons, high shirt collar, and black bow tie); Panchito jacket (mariachi style, magenta with gold trim, open over a red shirt)
Bottoms: Jose Carioca Pants (bright green with jagged cuffs resembling feathers); Panchito Pants (magenta with buckled belt)
Hats: Jose Carioca Straw Boater; Panchito Sombrero
Shoes: Parrot Feet (yellow), Rooster Feet (orange with magenta spats)

Pins
Magic Pin: Flying Burrito Magic--transforms you into the Flying Burrito!
Normal Pin Set: Peruvian Donald, Gaucho Goofy, Jose Carioca, Panchito Pistoles, Pablo the Penguin

Guest Room
El Zocalo Guest Room: Based on the El Zocalo area of Disneyland's Frontierland. The room's audio would be gentle Spanish guitar music.
