After watching the crack of the Egg-pire led by Emperor Pal-poultry, Supreme leader Yolk realized that he would need to make a few changes, or face being wiped from eggs-istence! The old TIE Fighter designs were whisked away to the trash compactor and replaced with these faster, sleeker, and more rounded ships.
