Wolverine was first introduced into the comic world in 1974 in The Incredible Hulk #181. He was hunting down The Hulk in the Canadian wilderness, because Hulk was destroying every living g thing in sight. Even though we first saw him in 1974, he has a history like no other.
Born James Howllett, he took on the name Logan after he got so enraged he killed his biological father who just murdered his stepfather. Of course we know how Thomas Logan got murdered. With some bone claws. When his mother realized that he was a mutant, she started calling the towns people to come and get rid of him. Little James ran from the house, leaving everything he knew behind, including the name James Howllett. From then on, he would be known as Logan. After fighting through several wars, he was imprisoned because he was a mutant. Enter Col. William Striker. He promises Wolverine/Logan to make him basically immortal by I fusing his bones with the strongest metal In the world. Adamantium. After undergoing this procedure which nearly killed him, he was the Wolverine we see today. Brutal and with an attitude, he was ready to take on Striker, after he had learned that Striker wanted him to destroy mutants.
Now Wolverine had to choices. When he was fighting g in WWII, he just so happened to make a friend by the name of Steve Rogers a.k.a Captain America. Steve offered Logan a job as an avenger, but Logan eventually turned it down to join the X-Men. Have no fear though. In 2005 I. The comic book series titled The New Avengers, Logan would become an avenger after all.
Now we all know that Wolverine s NOT immortal. He can intact die as he did several times in the comics. He regenerated from a single drop of blood and a lot of crazy other stuff. However, the only guy who was ever able to finish him off was Thanos in the Infinity War Series comics. Wolverine tried to sink his claws into Thanos which did nothing to Thanos. So Thanos decided it would be fun to turn Logan's bones an adamantium to rubber. It is noted as one of the most savage deaths in the infinity war series.
