Disney Cruise Questions

#1
I am looking into going on my first Disney Cruise this January and was wondering if it is worth it?

  • What is the best part of a Disney Cruise?
  • What sets it apart from other cruises?
  • Should I just go to Disneyland or Disney World instead?
  • What advice would you give a first timer?

Thanks so much!

Hi! I can help

  • What is the best part of a Disney Cruise?
There are lots of things. On the longer cruises, you may get the privelege of having select adult only time in the kids areas. The staff is really nice too
  • What sets it apart from other cruises?
There is no casino aboard the ships. Depending on what cruise you go on, you may get the pleasure of visiting their private island.
  • Should I just go to Disneyland or Disney World instead?
I love all three of the above so it's hard to pick
  • What advice would you give a first timer?
If you plan to do excursions, book them ahead of time incase they fill up. Same for Palo (the adults only restaurant)

The Disney Cruise staff goes above and beyond other cruise lines - in true Disney style. For instance, each dining area having a different theme and "show". The Character interactions are incredible. You will feel like you are living with the characters for the week. The entertainment, again in true Disney style, is awesome.
Tips: Check the schedule the minute you get on the ship and do not miss Animator's Palette dinner night.
Do not miss the chance to go to Castaway Cay! There is nothing like it on the planet.
The family verandah rooms are kind of unique in that they have bath tubs - which is unusual for a cruise ship standard-ish room.

Disneyland vs. Disney World is tough. Disneyland has charm & authenticity. Disney World is huge. You have to spend way more time & $ there. It has water parks, plus 4 parks & many lodging options - including the incredible animal kingdom lodge, where Disneyland is just 2 smaller parks and 3 basic lodging options.

If you have specific questions, let me know.

One nice thing about the Disney Cruises are that if you like to visit characters, you will meet more of them and more frequently with little to no waiting time for many. For example, my 20 year old brother got a picture with at least 5 Disney princesses just because he could. They would be wandering about the Atrium, no lines, just wandering, and so they'd stop for a picture with whoever asked. Same for other characters. Some of them will have lines (Fab 5, Jack Sparrow, etc) but until my first Disney cruise, I had never met so many characters as I did on the cruise compared to walking around the parks.

Oh, and the food is AMAZING. Super friendly for allergies!!

Honestly, if you really can afford it, do the Disney cruise. Disneyland/World are more affordable, but also I think easier to visit because you can go for just a day or 2, whereas a cruise can take 3-7 days. I would also recommend cruising the off season and trying to share 4 to a cabin if you really want a good price. I shared with 3 family/friends and we got a balcony 7 day cruise to the Caribbean for $1250 a person. Sounds steep, but try and find that same price; it's practically impossible. We did a 9 day Alaska ocean view for $1250 a person, too.

If you have questions, feel free to ask! I am most knowledgeable about Disneyland and cruising, thought I've been to WDW 2 times in the past 2 years.
