La La Land

I have to make the plug for La La Land. It's absolutely incredible. My jaw was on the floor within the first 5 minutes, I'll say that much :P

It's a modern day love story between an actress, Mia (Emma Stone), and a jazz musician, Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) set in Los Angeles. However, it's done in 30s/40s Hollywood movie musical style. Low tech, great songs, fantastic story. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a fun story, great songs, or just love musicals (as I do myself).

I have been obsessed and wanting to see this as soon as I saw any kind of promotion about it. I've heard such good reviews of it.... now I'm going to have to go see it asap.

This movie was truly a treat! Simple but with so much visual wonder, fantastic songs, I was immediately taken back to the classical musicals of old, it captured that spirit so fantastically, and also added some important messages about the realities of Hollywood today. Definitely one of my favorites of the year!
