Update: MyVMKWiki.com is up! We have over 4,000 items added that were automatically imported using MyVMK item data.

We are looking for people to help with uploading item images, item release dates, editing, etc. Check out the community portal.

If you have any questions, send me a message!

Thanks!

Hey everyone!

I noticed that MyVMK lacks a wiki. There have been several ones created over the years, however they have either vanished or haven't been updated in years. I have seen several posts asking for a wiki and complete item lists. When playing the original VMK, having a wiki (http://www.disneysonlineworlds.com/index.php/VMK) was very helpful to find information about items, timelines, and various other information. For me, I have played MyVMK on and off since 2013 and find it hard to keep track of all the new items, a wiki would come in very handy.

So, I have decided to start a wiki. This will be one that stays around forever and remains up-to-date. I have already purchased the domain, hosting, and installed the MediaWiki software. You can visit it at http://myvmkwiki.com (it is completely empty right now).

Before I spend too much time on it, would anyone be interested in a wiki such as this? Anyone willing to help create and manage it? As there is over 3 years of history, it will be a lot of work. Will need some help with writing guides, figuring out item release dates, creating pages, etc.

Anyways, let me know your thoughts!

I wish you luck on your wiki! I started up a wiki when MyVMK first started, and before that I created the OpenVMK Wiki. It was really fun to do, but I did it all myself and it took a lot of time. At first, I didn't want to have anyone else help out because I wanted things done a certain way, but eventually when I did allow others to join the team, I found that most people just weren't dedicated enough to keep up with the game's releases. After a couple of months, I shut down the Wiki, as there was a competitor that was doing pretty well at the time, and used much more advanced wiki software than I did. However now, they are all gone and unfortunately, as far as I know there isn't a record of when items were released and retired. I should have just wrote down the names of the items, and the release and retire date, at this point that would be good enough. Unfortunately I did not, and finding those dates may be difficult, although people who work with the server may be able to figure out the dates, but it would probably take a while.

Good luck on your wiki.

I started one a couple years ago before I quit which you could either take photos from or work on instead of creating a new one, it's http://myvmks.wikia.com/wiki/MyVMKs_Wiki which has some useful linking but not a great amount of work done.

It has most if not all pins and clothing from early 2015 and earlier. Some of it has dates and extra info as well such as http://myvmks.wikia.com/wiki/Dreams_Fairy_Pin and http://myvmks.wikia.com/wiki/Room_Pin_-_Cave_of_Wonders and others.

Has a lot of photos of pins etc on there if you want to sue on yours instead.

It takes A LOT of work though, you should get multiple people to help update it because doing it on your own is way too much work.

Thanks for the comments everyone! I've been working on it, and it is coming together well.

@PixieLizzieA, @CosmicSunset, @MisterLoony, @Kili, @hotcorndog, @Peasy, and anyone else that wants to help, you can check out this page http://www.myvmkwiki.com/MyVMK_Wiki:Community_Portal to see some different things that you can help out with. Right now just have some missing images listed, but it will be expanded in the coming days. Also, feel free to edit any part of the wiki as well, add items, add release dates, add guides, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

@Gamecrazy - Thanks! It will be a lot of work, but hopefully should turn out good.

@Cloudyblue, @Because - Thanks for the links!

@Lost - Thanks for the links, will definitely make use of them. I agree that it will be a lot of work, hopefully can find some other people to help keep it all up-to-date.

@PaigeUhSaur - Thanks!

A user who used to play created lists of items that were released starting September 2013.
Here's a link to all the threads he's created: http://forums.myvmk.com/search/10235168/
I'm new and I wanted to see this, but the link isn't there anymore... :|[DOUBLEPOST=1483102430][/DOUBLEPOST]Heads up, if you play with Launcher you cannot take screencaps the size needed for pictures. :| Any known workaround? @BlackBeard

I believe that @Because was referring to the threads called MyVMK Items Guide which are listed starting about half-way down this page - http://forums.myvmk.com/forum/trading-post.24/

What do you mean about the size of the pictures? The game is a different size?

I like the idea. I was thinking about including a random player of the week thing where each week, you could select a player and they could tell the wiki about themselves
Yeah, I agree, that would be a cool addition to the wiki.

Not aimed at me but depending on where you take the image from, they can be different sizes. For example:

Both were taken from the inventory page on the site, just different images on there.
@BlackBeard Exactly. My screenshots from Launcher come out the smaller. If I go bigger, I get more than one item in the shot. If you need gingerbread men, I have them. I just can't grab the pic. I'll give ya one for it.
