So... Are "Crate #1"s useless?

I think was Silver Keys? you could get them randomly by playing Jungle Cruise and Fireworks and I think SITS. this was before the Christmas crates.

I have random silver keys and gold keys. I've always been curious of what they do.

Gold keys open crate #1s which still have pink and green flips in the however it is rare to get and silver keys open up ornament crates

What Katie said. Although the Gold Keys are worth a lot. So it's really not worth trying your luck on a crate 1 just to waste a valuable key just to get a common item. :c
