    a) The site is new, so there aren't many members to choose from. Many people don't have a lot of posts, so it's hard to determine their maturity in certain situations.

    b) The application isn't for an actual moderation job; if it's for something such as becoming a forum graphic artist, then that's fine.

    The application is simply a "letter of intent" stating that they're interested in helping out. It should not be anything more than that. Whether or not they're hired should depend on the factors I've listed above.

    But that's just my opinion. I've observed many forums and owners (some of which have been running forums since they first came out) and I've done trial and error by myself. Most mistakes that happen in the VMK-remake community are because no one is willing (or takes the time to) actually learn these things.
    Mhm, exactly. I just think moderators need to present themselves in a professional manner. I don't think anything personal should be discussed in public (I saw this in the chat on OVMKF), simply because that's not right. I also didn't like how they would threaten people with infractions and stuff in the chat >_> Some of the moderators debated/argued a lot, too. Some even argued with members while they were staff, yet they were still promoted to a high position, smh.

    I'm not really an application person. In my opinion, that's not the best way to find staff... Most sites pick people based on their maturity from their posts, their reports and how accurate they are, and overall, their activeness and their helpfulness. I think applications are a great way to show staff members that you're interested, but I don't think they should be used consistently unless:
